The Coachella Valley Association of Governments (CVAG) is building the next segment of CV Link in the City of Palm Springs. Construction crews will be grinding and paving the intersection of El Cielo Rd and Mesquite Ave for the new median islands and crosswalk that is to be installed for CV Link – a Class IV bikeway with a dedicated lane on the roadway that will be separated by barriers to provide a safe place for bicyclists, low-speed electric vehicles, and pedestrians. The pavement grind will occur on Friday 9/16, and the paving will occur the following day, 9/17.
During construction, north and southbound traffic on El Cielo will be controlled by flaggers who will allow groups of cars to alternately go through the intersection. Mesquite Ave between El Cielo and the park will be closed to traffic between El Cielo Rd and the Demuth Park/Mountain View Drive entrance to the Demuth Community Center. A detour will be set up for Sunny Dunes Road to Mountain View Dr to Mesquite Ave. Expect delays to get through the intersection or use alternate routes to get to the park.
